Alison Winter (Deputy Head of Theatre Studies)

Alison Winter is an experienced Media professional with a background in acting, teaching and directing. With a degree in Drama from Exeter University and a PGCE from London University she initially specialised in Theatre in Education working with small touring companies such as Joint Stock. She progressed from acting to heading the Drama Department of a South London Boys’ Comprehensive before deciding to change career and train as a Radio presenter and producer. She worked for the British Forces Broadcasting Service overseas for seven years serving in Gibraltar, Belize, Hong Kong and Berlin and for the BBC in the UK. Most recently she was a presenter on BBC Southern Counties Radio. She joined Hurtwood in 1997, and now has responsibility for A Level Theatre Studies.
