Gabby left Hurtwood and exploded onto the London music scene, to cause one of the biggest reactions seen in years.
Causing a reaction is becoming a habit for the instantly recognisable girl with a petite frame, mane of red hair and the vocal ability of a lioness. Although classically trained, her diverse musical tastes include pop, rock, folk, jazz, funk and experimental and that shines through in every song. Critics are agreed, Gabby Young is a true original.
In 2012, with a list of accolades as long as a pair of stripy tights, Gabby Young And Other Animals, (otherwise known as the “World’s Finest Purveyors of Circus Swing” – Clive Anderson, Loose Ends, BBC Radio 4) released their new highly acclaimed second album, ‘The Band Called Out For More’ in June.
Over the last year they have been played numerous times on BBC R2 (especially by Graham Norton and Paul O Grady), been touring all over the world, picked up 5 4 star reviews in the national papers including The Guardian, The Mirror and The Sun. After headlining KOKO last October, Gabby was asked to headline and curate New Year’s Eve at the South Bank. Gabby run's her own record label Gift Of The Gab Records and also has an online and pop up shop Gabberdashery.
