We are very excited to announce that from September 2009 we're offering AS Level Dance as an academic subject at Hurtwood House. This pilot scheme will be run by Matthew Atwell our Head of Dance alongside experienced A Level teacher Sam Lloyd.

Kingston College has recently published the results of its annual ACT Playwriting Competition 2008 and first prize went to Hurtwood Student Dan Walker for his play‘Tapping’. The ACT (Arthur Cotterell Theatre) Playwriting competition is for the best one-act plays received which are the original work of students in Years 12 /13 in full-time education at Schools and Colleges in Greater London and the South-East of England. Dan not only wins £500 but the chance of staging his play in Kingston College’s ACT Theatre. Well Done Dan!

Chris Callaway who left Hurtwood in 1995 is now the producer/ promoter behind the London Freestyle Festival, incorporating music, skating, free running, BMX, dance, B-Boy crews & graffitti artists.
Chris says "had it not been for my years backstage at Hurtwood I would never have developed my passion for the production of events and concerts."

After being spotted at Hurtwood by agents Curtis Brown, Skye Lourie's career has truly taken off, landing the lead in Ridley Scott's latest enterprise - 'Pillars of the Earth', where she stars alongside Donald Sutherland in this 4 part drama with Mike Mcshane, Rufus Sewell, Eddie Redmayne and Hayley Atwell. Filming will take her to Hungary and Austria over the summer. See their site HERE.

Ex-student Daisy Boulton has just landed the role of Juliette in the Almedia's coming production of Measure for Measure alongside Rory Kinnear, Anna Maxwell Martin and Ben Miles. The show is directed by Michael Attenborough and runs from February to April 2010. Well done Daisy.

Anna Clarke is making her West End debut having landed the plum role of cover for Nancy in the Drury Lane production of Oliver starring Griff Rhys Jones as Fagin. Anna Lawrence, as she's known in the business, also features as the Rose Seller. The opening night is in December and she'll be working on the show for at least a year.

Its time for Christmas related jobs for Hurtwood students. Sophie Sweetland is to appear in her first professional panto this Christmas at the Hazlitt Arts Centre in Maidstone alongside Aaron Sidwell from Eastenders. Meanwhile, Andy Apollo will be appearing as Belthazar in the Bristol Old Vic's production of "The Nativity - Bristol Fashion" to be performed at the Redgrave Theatre. Festive congratulations to them both.

Roisin Kelly's new theatre company, F.T.G. productions presents their debut show, 'The Ladies of the Sacred Heart" on Tuesday 1st December at 8pm in the Comedy Pub, Oxendon St. Picadilly, London. It features three ex-Hurtwood Students, Steph Glide, Tash Nightingale and Roisin herself who also wrote and directs this comedy sketch. Entry is free so go along and support if you can.
STOP PRESS-The show has also been selected to perform a 15 minute taster at the London Cockpit Theatre on Tuesday 15th December.
