Paul is a playwright who left Hurtwood in 1986 and went on to study drama at Bristol University. His plays include The Bedsit, 2Graves The Dead Move Fast and Worlds End.
The Bedsit featured James Ellis at the Tabard Theatre, transferring to the BAC as part of the Time Out Critics Choice season in 1999 before being performed at the assembly rooms at the Edinburgh Festival. Other plays by Paul performed at the Festival include Dark is the Night and The Waxwork which formed a double bill of mystery and suspense, and a comedy thriller Cell G 159 that was revived the following year as The Dead Move Fast featuring Sylvester McCoy.
2Graves premiered at The Pleasance Theatre, Edinburgh 2006 before transferring to London where it reopened The Arts Theatre. The production featured an original score from Oscar Nominated composer Michael Nyman and 2Graves marked Paul's West End debut.
Hurtwood was excited to premier Paul's play Worlds End before it was perfrormed at the Pleasance Theatre, Edinburgh, transferring to The Trafalgar Studios, London, in 2008.
Previous commissions have also included the National Theatre, Warp X Films
(a joint initiative between Film 4 & UK Film Council), BBC Radio 3 and Central School of Speech and Drama. His work has been developed at the NT studio, The Bush Theatre, Soho Theatre and The Old Vic. and his plays have been produced in Dublin and Chicago.
Paul has an original screenplay in pre production with Trinity Filmed Entertainment and is currently working on a new play.
