While finishing her A-levels Sam starred opposite Johnny Lee Miller in the BBC's Canterbury Tales. She went on to study English Literature at University College London but left early to play Ophelia alongside Ben Wishaw in Trevor Nunn's acclaimed production of Hamlet. Theatre credits also include Pygmalion directed by Mark Oldnow. Other film and TV credits include Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Poliakoff Film 2, Without Motive, Intolerable, Gideon's Daughter, Born and Bred, Coming Up, Casualty, Happiness, 20 Things to Do Before You're 30, The Bill and Touch the new Tim Kring/Kiefer Sutherland series for Fox.
Sam also works as a writer and director, has a production company Silent Kisses Productions, and has written and directed the films Sewn Up,Marigolds, Soaan, and Scenes of an Adult Nature. Films have been given five stars by the BBC film site and have won awards at festivals in the US and UK.
