After leaving Hurtwood, a stint of work experience at CNN in Hong Kong inspired Tumshie to train as a journalist going on to complete an honours degree in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Leeds. Tumshie secured her first job within days of leaving university and cut her teeth reporting on the Soham murder trial, grilling Alistair Campbell and interviewing pop stars. The following year the bright lights of London beckoned and Tumshie moved to work as a freelance journalist for numerous radio stations including Virgin Radio and the Heart group.
Currently a news presenter on Absolute Radio, Tumshie has covered some of the biggest events in the UK, breaking stories from the London bombings live on-air and reporting from the centre of the G20 riots to interviewing Angelina Jolie and the Killers, and presenting backstage at London Fashion Week.
Tumshie has won two awards at the New York Festival Radio Awards and has been nominated for an Arquiva Commercial Radio Award.
